Vestibular Rehabilitation for Peripheral Vestibular Hypofunction Clinical Practice Guideline Update: A Discussion with the Authors – Episode 62

Host Diron Cassidy, PT, GCS is joined by Courtney Hall PT, PhD and Wendy Carender, PT, NCS to discuss the recently published update of the clinical practice guideline for vestibular rehabilitation for peripheral vestibular hypofunction. Dr. Hall is a Research Health Scientist at the Mountain Home Hearing and Balance Research Program at the James Quillen VA Medical Center and Professor in the Physical Therapy Program at East Tennessee State University. Ms. Carender is a physical therapist in the Department of Otolaryngology, Michigan Medicine, in the University of Michigan Health System. Both are co-authors of the updated clinical practice guideline, which is published online and will be in the April issue of the Journal of Neurologic Physical Therapy.

Evidence Elevates: ANPT Moving Forward -Episode 1

The Academy of Neurologic Physical Therapy released the position paper, Moving Forward in 2021. This paper emphasizes the use of the best available evidence and research in the treatment of adults with acute-onset movement disorders following neurological injury. After decades of debate over the different treatment methods the ANPT Board of Directors felt it was time to provide a statement as to ANPT’s position for the membership.

The Evidence Elevates campaign will dive deeper into how this position will change physical therapy going forward.

DD SIG: The Impact of COVID-19 on Community-Based Exercise Classes for People with Parkinson Disease with Mark Mañago- Episode 27

In this episode, Parm talks to Mark Mañago about his recent publication in PTJ about the changing landscape of community exercise classes. Parm and Mark review the results of the study’s survey that asked exercise class participants with PD and exercise group leaders to identify facilitators and barriers to virtual and in-person class. They also discuss observed changes in activity level in the people surveyed. Parm and Mark brainstorm some real-world solutions to the barriers identified to help listeners start problem solving for their own classes and patients.
